I pulled my first real scam and ended up with my first video camera when I was 17 years old. I wrote a letter to 4AD records requesting permission to document their acts when they came through town and then managed to work my way into taping other acts. I got stiffed by so many video clients that Arcane Productions, my video production effort, never got off the ground. Since the turn of the century I’ve documented political and cultural movements in Detroit.
